Hidden Themes in Windows 7

As we know, Windows 7 has a lot of beautiful themes including in it by the default. It is about 6 Aero themes available when you access the themes through personalize menu. Those Windows 7 themes have a different styles and beautiful look for each other. But, there are still more Aero themes available in windows 7. Those themes is just doesn't appear in personalize Windows. There is a simple tricks to show those hidden themes.

These hidden themes are located in MTC folder. The full path of this folder is "C:\Windows\Globalization\MTC". But, this folder has system attribute. So if you want to see this folder, you should set your system to show hidden files and folders and also to show protected operating system files. To do so, follow this steps:

1. Open Windows Explorer then click on Tools »» Folder Options.


2. On the Folder Options Windows, select on "Show hidden files and folders" options and uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" options.



3. Click on OK button to save it and to close the Folder Options Windows.

Now, you can see the MTC folder appears on the Windows Explorer. Open the MTC folder and you will find 5 folders in it. Those folder are represent some regionals. The folder are MTC-AU (Australia), MTC-CA (Canada), MTC-GB (United Kingdom), MTC-US (United State), MTC-ZA (South Africa).


To apply the theme, open the folder for example MTC-US. Then you will find more folders again. To lacate the theme file, open the "Theme" folder, there is a file with .theme extention in it. Double click the file and it will be applied to your system and it also added on the Personalize Windows. To add the other themes, do the same steps on each folder. Enjoy the hidden Windows 7 themes!

Sure! We can enable multitab feature in Microsoft Office by using an application. This application called Office-Tab. Office-Tab is small plug-ins for Microsoft office. It's size is only 3.71 MB in your hard drive. It works very well on Microsoft Word and Excel. But, it has some problems on Microsoft Power Point.

After the installation completed. You can run Office-Tab center. On the Office-Tab Center you can customize the setting for the tabs for each Microsoft Office applications.

How to Create Multitab Explorer

Multitab feature can found on some windows applications especially web browser. For example Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. The multitab feature on an application can help us easier to manage it if we should open more then one windows in a same application. Imagine if there is a multitab feature in Windows Explorer. Managing files would be easier the before. Can we create multitab on Explorer?

How to Resize the Desktop Icons

Most of application put their icon on the desktop when they have installed on our computer. When we have installed a lot of applications, our desktop have a lot of icon too. It makes we can see the wallpaper anymore. Some of us might be remove some of them to make extra space in your desktop. But, before you start to removing some icon on your desktop, there is a trick that we can use to make some extra space on our desktop. You can change the desktop icon size to smaller size. By resizing the desktop icon to smaller size, our desktop can hold more icons on it.

This tip is also can be used to resize the desktop icon to bigger size. It will be helpful if you have a problem with your eyes. This tips only works on windows 7 and vista. For Windows XP user, you can find an application which help you to resize the desktop icons. You only do 2 steps to rezise the desktop icons, you can follow this tips:

To resize the desktop icon to smaller or bigger size. Press and hold the Ctrl (Control) key on your keyboard the scroll the mouse scroll button up or down. If you scroll the button up. The desktop icons will resized to bigger size. And if you scroll the button down, the desktop icon will be resized to smaller size.

How to Minimize Firefox to Tray

Minimize the active windows into taskbar is a thing that you often do to see the application behind it. But, it is not only minimized into taskbar, you can also minimize some applications to the tray. To do so, the application should has minimize to tray feature. However, have you ever tried to minimize Firefox to the tray?

I think some of you will say no. Because, there is no minimize to tray feature available on Firefox by default. But now, you can be able to minimize Firefox to try with a help from Add-On. Add-On which I mean is a Firefox add on called Minimize to tray. Add-On is made by Nils Maier.

With this add on installed in Firefox, we can be able to minimize Firefox to the notification area. To minimize Firefox to tray, you just simply click on the minimize button on the Firefox window. The Firefox window will minimize to the tray, automatically. You also can press F9 on your keyboard as a shortcut to minimize Firefox to the tray. How to Change Command Prompt Font

I'm sure you already read my post about How to change command prompt color. Now, I try to explain how to to change the command prompt font. If you combine both tips, you will have a new look for the CMD. With the new look of command prompt, it will more comfortable when working on it.

This tips is almost have the same way with the previous tips. You can change the command prompt font from it properties windows. Here the steps to change the command prompt font:

1. Click Start »» Run. Type in "cmd" (without quotes) then press Enter to open Command Prompt.


2. Right click on Command Prompt windows title bar and select Properties.



3. On the properties Windows, click on the Font tab.


4. Select the font type and it size that suite for you.



5. Click the OK button to save the changes.


6. When a dialog appears, select the second option and klik OK if you want this change applied permanently.

Everything is done. You can see the new look of your command prompt after changing it's font. Enjoy it!

How to Change Command Prompt Color

On the previous post, I have tell you how to maximize command prompt. On the post I have explained a simple tips to maximize command prompt (CMD) just like the other windows. Now, I want to tell how to change command prompt color. This tips show you how easily to change the color of the command prompt.


This trick works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. So, you don't need to worried this tips wont work your version of Windows. To change command prompt color, follow this steps:

1. Open command Prompt. You can open it by clicking on Start »» Run and type "cmd" then hit Enter.


2. Right-click on the Command Prompt title bar and select Properties.



3. On the Command Prompt Properties Windows, switch to color tab by clicking on it.


4. Change the Color value in Color box to your own value. For example Red color.



5. Finally, click on OK button to save your changes.


6. When a dialog appears, select the second option and klik OK if you want this change applied permanently.

All done. Now you have a new color for your command prompt screen. It looks more attrative when the command prompt color changed. Enjoy it!

How to Rename Recycle Bin

As we know we can't rename the recycle bin with other names. It is because there is no rename menu available when we right click on it. So what should we do when we want to rename recycle bin? Does it can't be renamed?

Don't worried. There is a tricks to make the recycle bin renameable. We should create a new value in windows registry to do so. Here's the step:

1. Click on Start »» Accessories »» Notepad to open Notepad


2. On the notepad window type the following code:
   Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
   
   [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder]
   "Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20
   "CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000


3. Save the code as registration entry file by click on Save as menu. On the save dialog, select All Files on the Save as type dropdown box and named it with .reg extention, for example RenameRecycleBin.reg.



4. Now, open the Windows Explorer and locate the registration entries file that you have created. Right click on it and select Merge.



5. When a dialog box appears, click Yes.

You have successful adding an entry to the Registry of Windows. Now, try to rename it with other name fro example Trash or Bin. Good luck!

Another Way to Empty Recycle Bin

Sometimes, we often empty the recycle bin to get more space in our hard drive. To empty the recycle bin we usually right clicking on the recycle bin and select Empty Recycle bin. I think most of you have been familiar with this way. But, did you that there is another way to empty recycle bin? You can empty he recycle bin by right clicking on a drive and select empty recycle bin.

How it works? We will create a new context menu on our drives which functioned to empty the recycle bin. This context menu will appears on all drives on the PC when we right click on it. To create the context menu, we should add new keys on the registry. Here's the steps:

1. Open Notepad by clickin on Start »» Accessories »» Notepad.


2. On the Notepad windows type the following codes:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}]

3. Save it with .reg extention by clicking File »» Save As. On the save as dialog box, select All Files on the Save as type dropdown box and named the file with .reg extention, for example EmptyRecycleBin.reg. Then click the save button.



4. Now, merge the new Registration Entries file by right clickin on it then select Merge. When a dialog box appears click yes.

Everything is done. Try to right click on one of your drive through Windows Explorer. Is there a new menu named Empty Recycle bin? If there is it, congratulation! You have another way to empty recycle bin. This tips works on Windows XP Professional.
